Amazing

This is my first IP phone and I am really amazed, it was easy to set up and works smoothly with several VoIP accounts - the biggest issue were the router settings.
Also the sound quality is great, I was asked twice if I would be in town even though I was in a different continent...
While the main functions are working really nicely and the phone is easy to use (like a normal landline phone), the software could need some improvements - biggest complaint I have is there seems to be no list of "received calls".
While I really like the weather-forecast, so far I have not played with the other fancy options yet.
But most I like to be able to have multiple phone-nrs in different countries, making it really easy to be called without oversea-charges. |
Great IP phone

I was looking for a phone that supports multiple VOIP accounts and I am happy with my decision. The only thing I am missing, compared to my analog Panasonic DECT phone, is the talking Caller ID. But you can assign different ring tones per phone book entry, so that makes up for it.
The only problem is that I can not register my Panasonic DECT phones at the Siemens base, but that might be a problem of the Panasonic phones, as they don't ask for a password.
A great thing is that the phone uses standard AAA rechargeable batteries, so it's inexpensive to replace them, once worn out.
After all I can highly recommend this phone. |
VOIP, multiple codless handset support

| I have used the phone with two different VOIP services and it worked with both. The sound is better that my old land line phone. It has a color display but not much can be done with the colors. It would have been nice if I could upload my contacts pictures. The wireless range is very good, throughout the house and outside. Supporting a land line works very well and you can choose which service to make calls on. Each handset an be configured as to which lines ring. |
Awesome hardware - software needs work

While the phone itself works well (both land line and VOIP) with great sound quality, there are some serious shortcomings in the software:
* phone book transfer is seriously broken - it removes initial digits from the number, making it useless (reading back the phone book from a hand set and sending the same file back without any changes will result in different entries that what was originally there!) I had to manually edit every single entry after the transfer
* VOIP username is limited to 32 characters (which made it impossible to use my current OneSuite account, requiring me to create a new one just for the phone to be happy)
* response on the hand set when doing anything is extremely slow - I guess I have to work on my patience
I hope that these issues will eventually be resolved (though I have been told by support that the 32 character limit cannot be changed) as it is only software. The hardware itself is great and I would buy or recommend this phone in a heart beat! |
Not very impressed

I was (and still am) looking for a decent cordless VoIP phone to use with my trixbox server. I started with the Aastra 57i CT, and while the base unit on those are superb, the cordless handset is a real loser. This Siemens phone seemed to garner some decent reviews, so I figured I'd give it a try. I am sending it back to Amazon. The biggest complaint I have is sound quality: sometimes it was fine, other times it was very bad. Echo (a major problem with the 57i CT handset) is generally OK, but there were times where it sounded like audio data was getting corrupted to/from the handset. (This is not a server problem, as the corded phones never have this problem.)
Also, while the web interface is nice, it's SLOW. And there seems to be no way to change the units reported for the weather report that displays when the unit is in its cradle. Oh, and the MWI light was always blinking on this phone, even when there weren't any new messages. (Again, not a problem with the other phones I've tried.)
I've also tried the Aastra MBU-400 (a similar product to this Siemens set), and it, too is disappointing (again for sound quality issues--mostly echo). Of the two, the Aastra seems like a nicer unit, although it costs more. But neither can provide acceptable sound quality compared to any of my POTS cordless phones or the corded VoIP phones. |
