Product Description

Get cordless handset convenience when you use Skype! Now you don't have to sit in front of your computer when you want to talk to your friends. The Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit comes with the Handset and its charger, and a USB Base Station that plugs into your computer. With the included Skype program running on your PC, the Handset can read and display your contact list on its built-in illuminated display. Just choose who you want to talk to from the menu, press a button, and get ready to talk. Of course, the Handset supports SkypeOut dialing as well as your Skype contact list. It rings when you have a Skype or SkypeIn call coming in, and shows the caller's ID on the screen. The Handset also supports call waiting and Skype's optional Voicemail service. When you're on a call, you can hit the Mute button for privacy, or use the speakerphone function to let everyone join in. You can even use the phone as an intercom -- each Base Station supports up to four handsets. In short, the Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit gives you all the functionality of a regular phone, through Skype. You'll get the convenience of a cordless phone and all its features, plus the high-quality voice reception that you get from Skype on your PC, without being tied to your computer.

Brilliant!

This product gets 5 stars in design and implementation. The buttons are where they should be, it feels like a phone, it "talks" like a phone. Definitley a must for every Skype fan. It also works with SkypeIn and SkypeOut so you can send and receive calls to this handset. Crystal clear voice quality. Absolutley brilliant. If I had, for the life of me, find a glitch in this device, I would say it takes a split second more than it should to scroll down on the list of skype names.
Great phone - good sound quality

ok, so I've been using skype for a while now but through a headset. I recently bought a CIT200 and couldn't be happier. Except for the fact that the base has to be connected to a PC, this is pretty much a full functional phone.

And to the previous reviewer that said you need to add a number to a contact first, I think you need to play around with it more. In order to call US numbers using Skypeout, you hold the 0 button to use the "+". Every call basically has to be +1(xxx)xxx-xxxx if you're in the US. If calling international, you it's +xx being the country code. Now if you don't want to hold 0, you can just use 00 in place of + such as 001xxx xxx xxxx.

Back to the phone itself, going through your skype contacts is a little slow but overall, I'm very happy with it. You don't have to be stuck to your PC to be able to make or receive skype calls.

Voice quality is very good using the handset. The Speakerphone quality blew me away. I was expecting some cheap flat sounding speakerphone but this is top notch quality.

Good price if you buy it online. I wouldn't think twice about this.
U need to have this...

For its been a blessing from the sky (although i paid for it)

Good Things

1. The batery has worked great for me, i talk almost 5 to 8 hours a day on the phone, and it never dies.

2. The speaker function is great, i mostly use it, when someone tells to hold on the line for a minute, so i just put it on speaker and wait.

3. U can use a headphone/mic with it, so when i come home, i just unplug my headphone from my cellphone, and plug it into my Skypephone.

4. Mute button, its a small thing, but i use it a lot, in case i'm talking to someome, and i need to scream something to my brother, i just mute it, and then unmute, and the other person doesnt even notise.

5. Most of all, i love been able to be walking around the house and talking at the same time.

Not so Good Things:

1. The range is not what they offer, but, my house is not so big, so its all good, there are a few areas where the phone beeps for the lack of range.

2. Browsing thru my contacs is very slow, but, i mostly use it to call phone numbers, so i've stored in the phone's personal address book my numbers, and that works ok.

3. I still dont know how to have someone on the line, and invite another contact to the conversation using just the phone.

In general terms, i'm very happy with this device, i have skype-in number, so, i get all my calls here, and the Audio is just perfect, even better than my cellphone.
Skype + Linksys = This is what Skype was always for

I decided to replace a faulty headset with this handset, which has been a pleasure to use. It is small an lightweight, and includes a hands-free mode, eliminating the one possible reason to go back to a headset.

The charger cradle is separate from the USB interface, meaning that you do not need to locate the phone near your PC. The phone includes AA-sized rechargeable batteries, rather than a specialized battery pack.

My only complaint is with the manual. It instructs you to set up the handset as the default audio device, effectively muting your PC. After a little research I found that it there was no need to do this - you can set only Skype to use the phone and the PC sound works as before.
